Lisa underwent a bone marrow transplant at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, in 2004 and returned to Channel 6 two and a half years later. Lisa has received 4 honorary doctorate degrees (most recently an honorary Doctor of Science from Thomas Jefferson University Medical Center) and numerous other awards, including an Emmy for a public affairs documentary on Philadelphia neighborhoods in the 1980s and the city's most prestigious accolade, the Liberty Bell Award. She retired in May 2016 after a second bone marrow transplant, having spent nearly 4 decades with WPVI-TV.
